The Road to Red Rocks – Isolation to High Density Population
We turn off Highway 318 into darkness. A few miles later, we kill the engine. The moon and flashes from distant military bomb training light the night sky. Sometimes, far away, headlights show themselves in silence. Our ears strain to hear a sound – no insects, no livestock, no wild animals. Dawn reveals an expansive desert basin edged by mountain ranges. Hundreds of miles of land.
An awesome experience of isolation.
In few day’s time, we find ourselves strolling down the Las Vegas strip. An innumerable amount of flashing lights, high rise hotels, extravagant casinos and restaurants, wasted people, sober people, yelling people, laughing people, nearly clothes-less people, pictures haphazardly snapping, and…the selfie stick.
An exaggerated experience of high density population.
To escape to beautiful canyons and impressive rock walls – an undoubtedly exciting adventure.
